The Mercedes-Benz EQB Electric SUV is the all-electric model based on the popular GLB SUV. It’s one of the 10 new Electric Car models that Mercedes is planning to launch in 2021. Despite only some images of its prototype having emerged, we already have some info about mileage and performance. In this review, we’re going to share anything we knew about the new Mercedes EQB SUV.

The exterior design is no surprise: it’s very similar to the standard Mercedes GLB SUV, even though the prototype’s images that we’ve analyzed show some changes made here and there. The interiors will share their design with the GLB too. However, we can expect some added displays. Also, since the GLB is available in the five and seven-seat model, the EQB is expected to be available in these two options too.

But let’s move on to what GLB and EQ don’t have in common!

Battery and Performance

Despite Mercedes hasn’t shared any official specs or details, rumors are already going around, and here is what we know so far:

  • The Mercedes EQB SUV will be provided with a charging port that’s compatible with the latest public fast chargers. These chargers can replenish your electric car’s battery by 80% in less than half an hour. This is a huge improvement over the electric vehicles of the past that required more than 4 hours to be fully charged.
  • The second information we have concerns the EQB’s lineage: the all-electric Mercedes SUV is supposed to be capable of driving for a mile range that goes from 250 to 300 miles on a single charge.

Regarding the Mercedes EQB’s expected performances, we have some information so that we know what to expect: the battery capacity will be between 60 kWh and 110 kWh, while the motors taken into consideration are the entry-level electric motor with 201 hp and the tri-motor variant with 335 hp.

The Mercedes-Benz EQB Electric SUV should become available in 2021 as part of a big electric cars launch already announced by Mercedes. The expected price is £45,000 which makes this model a cross between the slightly cheaper EQA and the more expensive EQC. EQA and EQC, however, aren’t SUVs. So, we’d rather compare the EQB’s price with the GBL’s one to have a better understanding. Well, the EQB seems to remain in the same price-range as the GBL and is even cheaper since a brand new Mercedes GBL can cost today around £60,000 or more.
